From dailydarrennews:

Some more pics from Disneyland, with some nice messages from those who met Darren.  :happy face

@sonny_buns: I got to meet @DarrenCriss last night! He is an amazingly kind and down to earth human being. So humbled by him!

skye.r: I don’t even care about the quality of the picture I just met Darren Criss and Tracy Morgan in the happiest and most expensive place on Earth yesterday

@shaaylo: In less saddening news I saw @DarrenCriss again yesterday and he’s truly one of the kindest people I’ve ever met

June 11, 2016

I love how Darren shows his appreciation for his fans' support, and tries to build a personal connection with each fan he speaks with.  :happy face

And congrats to all the  2016 Tony nominees and winners.   It was a fun show last night.  James Corden did a good job as host.  I found Frank Langella and Lin-Manuel Miranda's words about the tragedy at Orlando to be very moving.

YES!  Good idea, dusty!   Let's have Darren in Thor!   I have no idea who Balder is, but I trust your judgment.    Dusty is good about keeping updated on entertainment news.  thumbs up

He's looking good.  :happy face
Hahahaha, yes, I am short too. 5'1. I'd be a hobitt next top Tom's giant.

Balder was the most loved amongst the norse Gods both amongst men and the gods themselves as he is pure sunshine and delight. He was the god of light, joy, purity, beauty, innocence and reconciliation. He was considered to be the best (as in of character) out of the Gods.

One of the most famous stories in norse mythology concerns Balder. He was the son of Odin and Frigg. Frigg kept dreaming about Balder dying and so she set out on a quest where she made every creature on earth swear an oath not to harm him and everyone did. The gods then happily amused themselves using Balder as a target for weapon throwing, safe in the knowledge nothing could harm him.

However Loki, in disguise, managed to get information from Frigg that she hadn't asked the mistletoe because she thought it'd be too small to swear an oath. So Loki got the mistletoe and tricked the blind Hod (Balder's brother) into shooting it at Balder and so Balder died. Odin pleaded for his life and the god of the underworld said Balder would get his life back if everything and everyone in the world wept for him. All did, except for Loki, and so Balder remained in the underworld. And to bring this full circle, never forget to include the smallest little thing, we can still be mighty! hahahahaha! tongue

dusty, color me impressed with your knowledge of mythology.   I want to be sitting with you when I watch a Thor movie!  Razz   When you were describing Balder, as "the god of light, joy, purity, beauty, innocence and reconciliation," I have to admit I did think of Darren.  :amused   ha!  I can see Darren playing a funny scene of ducking items thrown at him by the other gods as target practice.  scared

Thanks dusty!   dusty, Lin, Jeremy, and Lilikoiluv, I know some of you guys have stored in your minds some Darren trivia.  I thought I read some where that Darren's voice was recorded for a Star Wars-related ride in Disneyland.   Does anyone remember this?    I thought his StarKid representative (Pat Brady) commented how Darren was screaming like a little kid when she told him the good news.   Sorry, that was pretty random of me.  That thought popped in my mind when dusty mentioned Darren's love of Disneyland.   How fitting of Darren to make a trip to  Disneyland right after he finished performing in The Little Mermaid Concerts at the Hollywood Bowl!

From dailydarrennews:

The Greatest LGBT TV Characters of All Time
Santana Lopez, Blaine Anderson and Kurt Hummel, Glee (Naya Rivera, Darren Criss and Chris Colfer)
Santana (Rivera) didn’t get the story development she deserved when she came out, but she spat in the face of lesbian stereotypes and never apologized for who she was on Glee. Meanwhile, the Kurt (Colfer) and Blaine (Criss) love saga became the backbone of the show in later seasons and fostered one of the most ferocious online followings. #Klaine forever.

Final number of t-shirts sold: 569 | June 14, 2016

His shirt didn't make the estimated goal.   I think part of the issue was that although the photo of his 16-year old self is adorable, it may not have been something that everyone wanted to wear (especially the older fans 😏 ).     It is for a good cause, with partial proceeds going to Musicians on Call, so I'm sure they will be happy to receive the donated funds.   applause

If only someone would pay us for rattling off random Darren trivia.
It's such a cute little story. The best part is that he had already booked Glee, but was still getting so excited about doing a background voice on an amusement park ride. And he'd probably still be excited about it today after all the other cool things he's done since.
Disneyland Star Tours story:

"My favorite Darren story: So Darren gets Eastwick and then gets Glee, which is great, and then, I work a lot with Walt Disney Imagineering and they needed voices for a new ride in Disneyland called Star Tours, they cast Darren to be a background voice. Darren comes in the office and I said “I need to see you in the Conference room” which means he automatically thinks he’s in trouble. We get into the Conference room and I say “I know you’re really excited about Glee, but you’re going to be doing the voice on the Star Tours” I’m telling you the scream! He’s nothing but a big nerd! His entire reaction was just “oh, my god! Oh, my god!” When he did the session, he had the time of his life." - Pat Brady

I remember that Disneyland ride story too! So cute!

Poppy, about the t-shirts, I agree that more people might have bought them if they had a newer picture of him on it. Also, for us who are passed our teenage years might feel weird having a t-shirt saying they're in love with a teenage mermaid! Hahahahahaha! I know I would! Generally I don't like merchandise that are emblazoned with the artists face/name. I prefer it to be more subtle.

It really is an funny story, showing how adorkable Darren really is, which is one of the reasons why I'm a fan.

Disneyland Star Tours story:

Aw, that is true, the best part is that here Darren was, on such a popular TV show, and he's fan-boying out because he is a background voice on a ride.  Because Darren is such a fan-boy of Star Wars.  Yup, and I'm betting it's still one of the highlights of his experiences, even with all the amazing things he has done so far.  Probably ranked as high as doing a duet with Kermit.  :amused

Thanks so much Lin, for tracking down that story and sharing it with us!

Click on what Lin posted (see above, in Lin's post):

I agree with you dusty, about those of us who are no longer in our teen years.  :amused

dusty wrote:Generally I don't like merchandise that are emblazoned with the artists face/name. I prefer it to be more subtle.
I agree with this.  Do you have stuff from other music artists that are more subtle?

I like the Not Alone shirt a lot.  And if I remember correctly, when I was looking at the Elsie Fest 2015 merchandise, I think there was a shirt with Darren's pic on it, but I preferred the shirt with the more general "Elsie Fest" on it, so that's the one I went with.

A little mention that when I went to see The Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Bowl, I had planned on meeting a couple of Darren fans from the GF there, who I have never met.  So I wore the "Not Alone" t-shirt so that they could spot me more easily.   One of the Hollywood Bowl employees commented on how she loved the shirt and was a fan of Darren.  :happy face

Anyway, it's always nice to see Darren hanging out with former Glee cast members!

Thanks for posting that pic, Jeremy.

Sorry I was asking what pic.  It's so weird, but I can't see the pic that Jeremy posted.  Isn't that weird?   But Lin, you can see it.  (Thanks Lin for clarifying.  I'm going to go to the other Pics thread, because I could not see the pic that Jeremy posted there either.  Am I the only one who is having trouble seeing pics posted by other members?   It's not an issue of re-loading because it's been several minutes now.)

Here is what I see:

Yes, I would be too lazy to even reblog everything, much less have such a thorough tagging system, so I'm always very grateful to the people who make it so easy for the rest of us to look stuff up. I heard the news, and it's astounding news.  I'm really very sorry, Lin, about how upset you feel.

When one is upset, it's understandable to think of other upsetting scenarios.   I can't imagine my country with Trump as our President.

If no one minds, I think this may be a better place to discuss these issues:   General News You Want to Talk About
Emotions are going to run high on this issue, especially for those of you from Europe.    I truly sympathize.

Is it an impression or Darren makes a lot of political statements these last weeks ?

I don't think so.  He tweeted yesterday about how "crazy" historically was the vote yesterday.  And by "crazy," I don't think he was taking a stand one way or the other (for or against the UK leaving the EU), but more in the sense that "crazy" meant unbelievable.  Then he re-tweeted and "liked" Hillary Clinton's tweet about the measures up for a vote by the Senate on gun control.  And earlier, just before the California election, he talked about how he is supporting Hillary Clinton.

But this is not something new for him.  He's always expressed how important politics, social issues and world events are.

Yeah but I have the feeling that his political statements are more frequent than before. It may just be an impression, though...

I respect your impression, Jeremy.

I just think though, that it's because within a short period of time, there have been events that Darren has commented upon.  The tragedy of the mass shooting in the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, the push from Democrats for gun control following that horrific tragedy, the California election (with the backdrop/background of Bernie versus Hillary issue), and then the vote yesterday of the UK.
