James Earl Jones, Sanjay gupta among celebs coming for U-M bicentennial

ANN ARBOR, MI - Over its nearly 200-year history, the University of Michigan has accumulated its share of both prominent and famous alumni, from a former president to surgeons generals to movie stars.

In honor of the university's upcoming bicentennial, a number of noteworthy graduates are taking the stage for a live multimedia performance in April.

James Earl Jones, Darren Criss, Sanjay Gupta and Cecilia Munoz are among the distinguished alumni joining U-M students and faculty in "True Blue! A Tribute to Michigan," which highlights the UMich200 Spring Festival.

The festival is the first of four bicentennial celebrations planned for 2017, taking place at 7 p.m. on April 8 at Hill Auditorium. Information on tickets is forthcoming.

Criss is a 2009 graduate who rose to fame on the hit TV show, "Glee," where he portrayed an openly gay student and singer. He currently stars in a national tour of the musical "Hedwig & The Angry Inch." He has also played J. Pierpont Finch in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" on Broadway.
