Broadway Con info.
So an update: Darren is no longer scheduled to appear tonight (Friday) at BroadwayCon.
I was reading Gleekto's blog (link:
http://gleekto.tumblr.com/post/156449982865), and an anon suggested that the reason why Darren was no longer scheduled to appear tonight at BroadwayCon was because of an issue involving Actor's Equity. Gleekto linked to an article in the NY Times about a dispute between the BroadwayCon organizers and the Actors' Equity.
The first NY Times article (dated January 22):
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/22/arts/broadwaycon-faces-dispute-with-actors-equity-association.htmlLast year, Actors' Equity Association and BroadwayCon organizers agreed upon a contract about payment terms for future conventions. According to Actors' Equity, at the time of this first article (article dated January 22), they felt BroadwayCon organizers were not honoring the contract. According to this article:
NY Times wrote:
January 22, 2017
Part of the dispute centers on roughly two hours of performance time in two events on the convention’s main stage, involving 10 Actors’ Equity performers.
The link for the second NY Times article (dated January 24) is:
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/24/theater/broadwaycon-resolves-dispute-with-actors-equity-association.html?_r=1So the dispute between the Actors' Equity Association and the organizers of BroadwayCon was resolved on Monday. However, this article states:

However, two sessions during the weekend, in which other performers were to sing show tunes and songs from jukebox musicals, will be altered. The events would have required a separate contract and pushed the convention past its budget for this year, Melissa Anelli, one of BroadwayCon’s lead organizers, said.
The article goes on to say:
NY Times wrote:The actors scheduled to sing will largely be replaced by songwriters and composers, and the nature of the events is still being finalized. But those actors may still appear in other sessions. For instance, Darren Criss (“Hedwig and the Angry Inch”) is to appear on a panel and as part of a theater-oriented game show.
It makes sense that this is the most likely the explanation of why Darren was no longer scheduled to appear in tonight's (Friday night's) event at BroadwayCon. These kinds of disputes between parties happen, and they are beyond Darren's control.
Darren is still scheduled to appear on Saturday morning as a contestant in the "BroadwayCon Feud" game, and on Saturday 12 noon as a moderator of the Speech & Debate panel/preview.
